About QCC Online

The current CUNY Strategic Framework has identified Online Learning as an institutional priority. Accordingly, QCC has dedicated resources to support an evolving effort to provide partially and fully online learning opportunities for students.

What is Online Learning?

Online Learning allows you to study wherever you are, arranging your studies around your work or family life. Queensborough Community College uses Blackboard as its primary learning management system to deliver online courses. Courses may include all or some of the following instructional delivery methods: live lectures, video clips, audio components, guided readings, chat rooms, interactive activities and threaded discussions. In addition, instructors are available to assist students according to their course policy either via email, by phone or in person.

What are the advantages of Online Learning?

  • Study anywhere - you can learn from wherever you are when you take our fully online courses.
  • Flexibility - The asynchronous components in our online courses will give you flexibility to fit your studies around your schedule and work commitments on a part-time or full-time basis.
  • Save time and money - eLearning requires no travel. Commuting fee such as bus fare, fuel cost and parking fees might not seem like a lot of money but when summed up, it adds up to a considerable amount of money during the span of the program.

Types of eLearning Courses:

Queensborough Community College currently offers Hybrid, Online, and Web-enhanced courses.

Online (FNET):

In our fully online classes there are no face-to- face meetings, all class meetings are conducted in a virtual online setting where all class meetings are simulated and replaced by multimedia and other digital content with all exams being conducted on-line.

Hybrid (PNET):

In our partially online classes we offer the best of both worlds where students are able to benefit from both a traditional face-to-face learning experience complemented with all the benefits of e-learning.

Web-Enhanced:

Our web-enhanced courses are traditional face-to- face classes in which the instructor incorporates myriad e-learning technologies to enhance the students in and out of class room learning experience; while preparing them for a future of e-learning.
