21st Century Community Learning Center

In 2010, Queensborough Community College was awarded a grant called the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. This is a federally funded grant, administered through the New York State Education Department. Since winning the grant in 2010, QCC has served over 300 students from various middle and high schools in southeast Queens. More Info

CLIP (CUNY Language Immersion Program)

The goal of CLIP is to provide intensive, full-time instruction (25 hours a week) in the English language to learners of English as a second language who are at a very low proficiency level based on their CUNY Skills Assessment Tests in reading and writing. More Info

CUNY Career Path (CCP)

CUNY CareerPATH is a low to no-cost program supporting adult workers without jobs and adult workers looking to advance their careers by providing opportunities. More Info

CUNY START

CUNY Start is an intensive program that provides instruction in academic reading, writing, and math for college bound students who have not passed the CUNY placement exams. The program, which costs only $75, including books, allows students to save financial aid for credit courses, and offers academic advisement. More Info

Driver Education

Eligibility
All high school students are eligible to register for the Driver Education program provided they are or will be 16 years of age by July 1, 2014. You must have a Learner’s Permit or Junior License before the first class.
Objectives

• Acquire safe driving skills and defensive driving
awareness.
• Earn the MV 285 “Completion Certificate,” providing eligibility for 10% to 15% discounts on insurance premiums with most companies; Duplicate cards, $25.
• Qualify those who successfully complete the course to apply for senior driver’s license at age 17.

TUITION AND FEES

Health & Allied Services

The Office of Pre-College, Continuing Education and Workforce Development continues to offer many choices to those seeking a career change or to individuals who are just starting out in the workforce. Employment opportunities in health and allied services professions (which cover areas such as Certified Nursing Assistants, Home Health Aides, Emergency Medical Technicians, etc.) continues to grow. However, with so many options, it is important to explore what kind of training each certification entails, what the job availability is for that specific position and what kind of salary to expect. - More Info

Literacy

The Department of Academic Literacy at Queensborough Community College offers reading and writing courses to native and non-native-English- speaking students who require linguistic instruction to qualify for most credit-bearing courses at the College. More Info

Motorcycle Program

The Basic Rider Course (BRC) was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) as a complete riding program for the beginner rider. The course consists of 7 hours of interactive classroom learning and at least 11 hours of hands-on riding instruction. The 2-1/2 day course provides basic riding skills to minimize risk. In the classroom, learn about the different types of motorcycles and how they operate, what to wear for comfort and protection, how to develop a riding strategy for dealing with traffic and road hazards, and the effect of alcohol and other drugs on your ability to ride safely. The BRC's riding exercises cover straight-line riding, shifting, braking, cornering and swerving techniques and motorcycle dynamics.

Trama's Auto School Inc. provides motorcycles, helmets, eye protection and course materials. You need to provide your own riding gear: sturdy, low-heeled over-the-ankle footwear, jacket, long pants, full-fingered gloves, and, if necessary, raingear. Prerequisite: You must be at least 16 years of age to participate. Participants under the age of 18 will be required to have their parent or guardian's notarized signature on their MANYS application. The ability to ride a bicycle is a requirement for admission to the BRC.

Port of Entry Development Program (POE)

The Port of Entry Program was established in 1980 as a unique intensive language development program designed to provide international students and new immigrants with the language skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to succeed in higher education and professional careers in the United States. Project Prize

Project PRIZE is a Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) funded by the New York State Education Department. 2014 marks an important 25th year in the program's history and development. Through a wide variety of activities sponsored collaboratively by Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York and schools in Queens, students in Project PRIZE receive at least six hours a week of additional guidance and instruction to help make their middle and high school years as productive as possible. - More Info

OASIS Day Camp

Oasis Day Camp

At Oasis in Bayside, campers have the opportunity to learn from adult role models, develop self-confidence, find adventure in a safe environment, and make friends that will last a lifetime. This summer, Oasis in Bayside offers a day camp experience tailored to your child's interests with our Camper Academies. For wide-ranging skill development campers will participate in the following academies: Science Exploration, Engineering, and Fine Arts. During academy time, your child will get to focus and develop their skills in specific content areas! Campers can learn more about the ocean through Science Exploration, build simple machines in Engineering or experiment with watercolors in Fine Arts.

Oasis in Bayside has partnered up with the QCC Chinese Academy! It offers all children Mandarin Chinese language and cultural classes, such as Chinese Dance, Kung Fu, Paper Cutting and Abacus. Chinese Academy campers will attend academy courses during the morning Monday through Friday. Parents can have their campers opt-in for no charge at all!

Go Online for Professional & Personal Growth

There are hundreds of online courses designed for you to take from the convenience and comfort of your home or office. Online learning offers continuous classroom access, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Each course is designed to be hands-on and effective, enabling registrants to rapidly acquire crucial new skills whether it is for business or personal growth.

Our programs are offered through two educational organizations: ed2go and Gatlin Education Services, Inc. Personal Growth programs are offered only through ed2go. Our Career Training and Professional Certificate programs are offered through Gatlin Education Services and ed2go-pro; these professional programs prepare students for developing expertise in their desired career fields and/or prepare them for industry certification exams. Although each course is self-study, each course does have an instructor assigned to answer student questions and help solve problems.

Ed2Go Gatlin

Queensborough Community College, in partnership with ed2go (formerly Gatlin Education Services), offers online open enrollment programs designed to provide the skills necessary to acquire professional level positions for many in-demand occupations.

Our programs are designed by a team of professionals from each respective field, who work to provide you with an effective web-based learning experience. Instructors/mentors are actively involved in your online learning experience. They respond to any questions or concerns, as well as encourage and motivate you to succeed.

Each program includes a set of lessons and evaluations; grades are a combination of the instructor/mentor's evaluation of students' work and computer graded tests. We know you'll appreciate the quality as well as the convenience of anytime, anywhere learning!
