Jessica Rosario is a first-generation college student and recently graduated with a Liberal Arts degree. She majored in English and was a member of ASAP.

Immediately upon entering QCC as a freshman she became a student activist and began working with New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG). She continued on to secure an internship with Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz and became Ms. Cruz’s first official campaign staff person. She is extremely passionate about voter rights, advocating for higher education and New York City politics. She went to Albany in February 2018 as one of NYPIRG’s Team Leaders, leading legislative meetings and voicing her position on the importance of higher education for all. In addition to her QCC activities she has an active role in IGNITE National, an organization that empowers and supports young women to declare their political ambitions and run for office.

Jessica met Ms. Strauss at the annual Career Services Internship & Cooperative Education Forum. She later sat down with Ms. Strauss to fine tune her resume for future job and college applications. She recalls Ms. Strauss’s genuine devotion to helping students succeed. Jessica understood how important it was to make her resume professional and highlight all the right things and couldn’t have done that without the help of Career Services and Ms. Strauss.

Through her experiences here she wants to pass on to students the importance of building relationships with professors and staff and taking advantage of all the resources around you. She credits doing so for her current success.

Jessica will be attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the Spring of 2019 and wants to continue on to CUNY Law School and eventually run for New York City Council. She hopes to achieve gender equity and inspire other young women to enter the world of politics.
