School Garden Facilitator, PS/MS 218

Description: • Teach and assist a group of children enrolled in WHEDco’s after school program, in growing and maintaining an organic garden and hydroponic greenhouse through the year. • Develop a curriculum for the garden and food justice program. • Provide learning opportunities and engaging lessons. • Ensure proper behavior and safety in the garden during program hours.

Special Skills & Requirements • Work experience in a low-income community and diverse urban youth; • Experience developing and delivering garden-related instruction; • Knowledge of and experience with planting, harvesting, and watering procedures; • Enjoys working with school-aged children; • Strong interpersonal communication skills; • Must be available to work four weekday afternoons per week, 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
