AmeriCorps National, Construction Crew Leader for A Brush With Kindness Program

Description: The Brush With Kindness program partners with non-profit organizations and the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to paint and revitalize community centers that serve thousands of people in local communities. ABWK Crew Leaders support the program by coordinating daily site activities including conducting volunteer orientation, safety demonstrations, and delivering educational information about affordable housing issues in NYC. ABWK crew leaders perform painting, minor construction, patch work, tiling, landscaping, gardening, or repair work. This role works primarily for the ABWK program, but may also be deployed on construction sites as needed.

About the Company: Habitat for Humanity New York City has been awarded 15 AmeriCorps members for the 2014 - 2015 service year. AmeriCorps members are the frontline builders of our affiliate. They ensure a safe, productive, and enjoyable build experience for more than 5000 volunteers annually. AmeriCorps members serve in all 5 NYC boroughs either with our Construction Crew or the Brush with Kindness program. They are a crucial part of Habitat for Humanity’s mission, which is to transform lives by building and repairing quality homes for families in need. In addition to the “hands on” experience that members receive, their primary role is to lead volunteers in the completion of our projects.
