What do educators know, say and do that invites students to turnaround their approach to school and take charge of their learning? How do we all inspire students to value effort, crave challenge and persist in the face of obstacles? Every staff member at Queensborough Community College interacts with students. All of us have the potential to be that dependable adult who inspires a student to turnaround their approach to learning. Our words and actions communicate that we believe the student is able, valuable or responsible or they are not. As significant adults in our students' lives, we have the power to help them develop a positive or negative self-concept, which in turn influences their choices of behavior. Join us for an exploration of how we can create a shared mindset and intentional style of communication that will help us all to realize our full potential.
