"Young People with Disabilities"
Final Event in the Series - All faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend!
Over ten percent of students in the United States have a disability, and many have similar educational and employment goals as their classmates.  Nonetheless, young people with disabilities experience additional challenges that often leave them disadvantaged relative to their peers.  This presentation will take a sociological perspective on disability and inequality to discuss research and policy related to the transition to adulthood for young people with disabilities.  In doing so, I’ll describe what the results of my research using the
National Longitudinal Survey of Youth tell us about the differences – and similarities – between young adults with and without disabilities.
This event is being held in conjunction with Service Learning Earth Day.
