A thrilling program of fiery dances representing the numerous people inhabiting the mountain country of Daghestan, Russia. This company of 40, throw themselves into every number with a startlingly ferocious energy. Daghestan itself is a highly diverse region with many ethnic groups, which is reflected in the differences in the choreography of each dance. The wild-eyed ferocity of the male dancers, and the sauciness of the women teach a lesson in dance theatrics. Erupting into a frenzy of turns in the air in an instant, Lezginka’s colorful costumes, wild acrobatics and even swordplay make this special event a cultural highlight of the season.
