Sixty years after fleeing Vienna in the wake of the Anschluss, Maria Altmann, now an elderly Jewish widow living in Los Angeles, seeks to reclaim family possession that were seized by the Nazis. Chief among them is a famous portrait of Mariaâ?Ts beloved Aunt Adele: Gustave Klimtâ' Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer more commonly known as Woman in Gold. With the help of a young lawyer, Randy Schoeberg,
they embark upon a legal battle with the Austrian government to recover the painting and others, ultimately ending up in the Supreme Court of the UnitedStates.
