Description:

KindertransportThe Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center and Archives will open an exhibit honoring Great Britain for rescuing the 10,000 children of the Kindertransport.

In 1939, Adolph Hitler agreed to let 10,000 Jewish children leave Germany and Austria. Their parents were to remain. Boasting that no one would take these “undesirable” children, Hitler was upstaged by the people of England, the only nation to come forward and rescue these children. Their parents remained in the Nazi-held areas.

The Counsel General of Great Britain, Tony Perez, will accept the Kupferberg Holocaust Center’s Freedom Award in appreciation for their heroic actions. Many of those who were rescued will be in attendance.

The Center, in partnership with the Kindertransport Association, will host the exhibit July 12 - September 29 highlighting the events of this rescue mission.
