2012 Imagining America

A joint presentation by Queensborough Community College and St. John’s University to discuss the role of higher education and cultural institutions as agents of social change.

The symposium is connected to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant awarded to Queensborough in 2011  to demonstrate Culture and Literacy through Art for the 21st Century (CALTA 21), a model initiative designed to empower adult immigrant English language learners and their families.

St. John’s University has partnered with Immigration Advocacy Matters (IAM) to provide education and other needed social services to the local immigrant community.
