Kymia Nawabi (born 1980) is an Iranian-American artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her MFA (2006) from the University of Florida and her BFA (2003) from East Carolina University. Nawabi has exhibited internationally and nationally including solo exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum (NY), the Greenville Museum of Art (NC), and Abmeyer + Wood Fine Art (WA); with group exhibitions at the Queens Museum of Art (NY), the Melbourne Art Fair (AU), the Contemporary Art Museum Raleigh (NC), Phillips de Pury & Company (NY), Wave Hill (NY), SOFA (IL), The Lodge Gallery (NY), ADA Gallery (VA) and EVOKE Contemporary (NM). Nawabi has been awarded residencies and grants including a NYFA Drawing Fellowship (2009 & 2017), Lower East Side Print Shop Keyholder Residency (2012), LMCC Swingspace (2007 & 2009) and the Aljiira Emerge 10 Fellowship (2008). She is represented by Abmeyer + Wood Fine Art, Seattle, WA. Please join us to hear what intrigues and drives Ms. Nawabi.
