Description:

Christina Raia is a New York indie filmmaker. As the Founder and Team Director of CongestedCat Productions, she has completed nearly a dozen independent narrative short films and a pilot, all as director and producer (the majority of which she was also the writer). She wrapped production on her first feature film, Summit, in February of 2013. It premiered in 2015 and won Best Horror Film at the Manhattan Film Festival and Best Director at the Rhode Island International Film Festival (Horror Vortex Fest); it also screened at the Scare-A-Con Film Festival, Unreal Film Festival and Macabre Faire Film Festival (winning Best Sound). Shortly after wrapping Summit, she directed and co-produced the web series "Kelsey," written by team member Kelsey Rauber. Since premiering in September 2013, the series has garnered an exceptional amount of hits and rave reviews by critics. Her work and approach as a writer/director have been covered in mainstream and film media, including Indiewire, BuzzFeed and AfterEllen. She also turned her desire to foster collaboration and support in the local film community into IndieWorks, a film series showcasing the work of independent filmmakers in New York. She is currently in production for her second feature film, "About a Donkey". She holds a BFA from Hunter College in Film Production. This event is sponsored by Student Activities and students from all disciplines are encouraged to attend.
