There will be about 30 sessions, each lasting two hours, related to skills in the three areas. They will learn to use a variety of very high tech instruments and to develop skills needed to deal with lasers. They will see high-powered lasers in operation. (and learn the necessary safety measures for them). The project is designed to be exciting as well as educational. Speakers from industry will talk about opportunities in their companies and in the industries they come from. Counseling will be available on how to apply to college.
The mathematics workshops will deal with mathematics as it applies to real world situations. Participants can choose the ones they want or need.
Parents will be invited to attend two evening conferences designed especially for them.
Transportation back to their high schools will be provided to all participants. For those from schools that are distant or from which it is particularly difficult to get to Queensborough, transportation will also be provided to the College.
