Gillian Annamique Ferrer is proud to represent Queensborough as a nurse
It was the beauty of the campus that attracted nursing student Gillian Annamique Ferrer to Queensborough. She had researched the other top nursing schools in the New York metropolitan area, but when she came to visit Queensborough, she says “It felt like home.” She grew up in the Philippines surrounded by nature, so the open, treed campus of Queensborough made her feel welcome.
Helping others is an innate quality that runs in her family, and being a nurse is her personal aspiration. As a Queensborough nursing student, she excelled in her studies. She was a Phi Theta Kappa member, and the 2007 president of Queensborough’s chapter of the Student Nurses Association. Her grades, poise and positive attitude earned her the opportunity to serve on the President’s Council, acting as an ambassador on behalf of Queensborough. Gillian received her nursing degree in January 2008 and passed the NCLEX exam in April. She will work as a nurse as she continues her education, with a goal to become a pediatric nurse or nurse anesthetist.
