The Athletic Department announces:

The QCC Women’s “Fast Pitch” Softball Team are Region XV Champions…

The Lady Tigers participated in the Region XV Tournament @ Westchester CC on 5/2/08-5/4/08. The Lady Tigers won all three games played during the tournament.

In Game 1, QCC defeated Suffolk CC by a score of 10-9. The Lady Tigers rallied late to tie the score at 8-8 in the bottom of the 7th inning. After Suffolk CC took another lead in the top of the 8th inning, Jessica Payero (Tournament MVP) secured the victory by hitting a 2 run “walk off” Home Run in the bottom of the inning.

In Game 2, QCC defeated Nassau CC by a score of 9-1 behind a great pitching performance by Alishia Vansalisbury.

In Game 3, QCC defeated Suffolk CC by a score of 4-1 behind a solid pitching performance by Kayla McCusker.

The Lady Tigers will advance to the NJCAA College “Fast Pitch” World Series on 5/15/08-5/17/08 @ Rochester, Minnesota.

The QCC Men’s Baseball Team defeated Bronx CC @ Keyspan Park by a score of 7-3 to capture the CUNY Championship.

Victor Gonzalez pitched 9 solid innings and was declared the Tournament MVP.

The Region XV Tournament @ Suffolk CC on 5/9/08-5/11/08

The winner of the Region XV Tournament advances to the NJCAA College World Series @ Tyler, Texas on 5/17/08 – 5/23/08.


Four members of the QCC Women’s Swim Team represented QCC in the NJCAA National Championships.

Clare Baxter, Jessica Brady, Yunnan Guo & Gabrielle Jonke placed 15th at Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex in Fort Pierce, Florida on March 5-8, 2008.

Gabrielle Jonke placed 8th in the 100 – yard breast stroke with a time of 1:20.92. Jessica Brady placed 12th in the 100 – yard backstroke with her time of 1:14.92, while Clare Baxter’s 29.02 mark in the 50 – yard freestyle was good for 16th place.

Congratulations to Head Coach Young Kim & the Tigers.


The Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Team will start the 2008 Season on Saturday, 3/15/08.

QCC will be hosting the running of the 4th annual Queensborough Relays on Saturday, 3/15/08 @ 11:00 am.


The Women’s “Fast Pitch” Softball Team will start the 2008 Season @ Hampton University on 3/7/08.


The Men’s & Women’s Basketball Teams have advanced to the Region XV Tournament.

The Lady Tigers defeated Technical Career Institute in overtime on Tuesday, 2/26/08 @ QCC at 7:00pm.
The Lady Tigers will advance to the Final 4 Tournament @ Suffolk CC on 3/1/08.
The winner of the Regional XV Tournament advances to the NJCAA National Tournament @ Mohawk CC on 3/13/08.

The Tigers will play Nassau CC on Friday, 3/29/08 @ Suffolk CC at 8:00pm.
The winner of the Region XV Tournament advances to the NJCAA National Tournament @ Delhi CC on 3/13/08.

Congratulations to the following QCC Student athletes. They have been awarded Regional Honors …

  • Taniqua Tabiri (Women’s Team) - Nominated as an All American & 1st Team All Region.
  • Katrina Robinson (Women’s Team) – All Region Honorable Mention
  • Caswell Blake (Men’s Team) - 2nd Team All Region
  • James McDaniel (Men’s Team) – All Region Sportsmanship Team

Congratulations to Men’s Head Coach Tom Sinnickson. Tom Sinnickson has captured Coach of the Year Honors (Region XV & CUNY).


Congratulations to the QCC Lady Tigers on winning the 2008 CUNYAC / Con Edision Women's Basketball Community College Championship.

Also, congratulations to QCC Head Coach Joe Medina (Women’s Basketball) & Head Coach Tom Sinnickson (Men’s Basketball). They have both been chosen as the 2008 CUNY Conference Coaches of Year.

Queensborough Community College will be hosting the 2008 CUNY Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament.

CUNY Women’s Semi Finals   Tuesday, 2/12   5:30 pm & 7:30 pm
(Lady Tigers play @ 7:30 pm vs. TBA).

CUNY Men’s Semi Finals   Wednesday, 2/13   5:30 pm & 7:30 pm
(Tigers play @ 7:30 pm vs. TBA).

CUNY Championships     Friday, 2/15   5:30 pm Women’s Final (Teams TBA).
                                                        7:45 pm Men’s Final (Teams TBA).

Admission is free and tickets are available at the QCC Box Office (limit 2 tickets per person each game).


The Men’s & Women’s Swim Team participated in the CUNY Championships @ Lehman College on 1/31-2/2/08.

The Women’s Team & the Men’s Team were declared Community College CUNY Champions.

Congratulations to Head Coach, Young Kim & the members of the Tiger Swim Team.

The QCC Athletic Department has received a grant to broadcast two (2) Men’s & Women’s Basketball Double Headers.

Queens Public Television (QPTV) will be broadcasting the Basketball Double Header on 12/4/07 & 12/10/07.

Double Header I - Borough of Manhattan CC vs. QCC on 12/4/07.
The Women’s Game will start @ 5:30 pm & the Men’s Game will start @ 7:30 pm.

Double Header II - Kingsborough CC vs. QCC on 12/10/07.
The Women’s Game will start @ 6:00 pm & the Men’s Game will start @ 8:00pm.
