Department-wide:
both process and sanctions
Process:
Each
department must use the same procedures in dealing with cases involving any
faculty member as far as any review of faculty actions
This
seems not only a workable requirement but highly desirable for all involved as
faculty, students and department administrators know clearly what
is expected.
Each faculty member in a department must use the
same procedures in dealing with cases as are used by any other
instructor.
Sanctions:
As
departments are those most aware of the nature of their instructional program,
its learning and assessment activities and modalities of
instruction, the creation of a uniform schedule of sanctions would
appear to be workable and desirable as it would not only provide for a
sense of fairness for the student offender but it would provide
guidance for faculty.
