SS-211 Principles of Macroeconomics

This course covers fundamentals of macroeconomics, that deals with aggregate economic issues, such as inflation, unemployment, recession, economic growth, savings and investment, and economic policy instruments that address these issues. Besides familiarizing students with the basic economic concepts, tools and techniques to sharpen their analytical skills to understand ordinary economic issues and concerns, this course will also expose the students to the fascinating worlds of fiscal and monetary policies, money and banking, taxation, role of government under alternative economic systems, international trade and such other factors that affect output, economic growth and standard of living. Successful completion of this course should help students think systematically in understanding and evaluating public policy alternatives to economic issues and problems.
