Please note, you must be an admitted Queensborough Student to Apply to the Clinical Nursing Program and take the PAX RN EXAM
About the PAX-RN
The Nursing Department of Queensborough Community College requires Nursing Program applicants to take the PAX-RN (Preadmission Examination- Registered Nurse) as part of the evaluation process. The PAX-RN exam is offered through the National League for Nursing covering three subject areas; verbal ability, mathematics, & science. Students have one hour to complete each section of the exam which is computerized & multiple-choice.
Students will be able to access their scores online one business day after completing their exam. The Nursing Dept. will also receive a copy of each student’s scores. The scores will be reported by section, a composite score, & a percentile ranking.
The highest possible raw scores for each section are as follows: Verbal Ability= 60, Mathematics=40, & Science=60. The composite scores are standard & range from 0-160. The percentile rankings range from 0%-100%. For our college’s purposes, the Nursing Program will consider all areas of scoring, however students are expected to perform well in each subject area.
Testing will be administered in March for Fall semester applicants & October for Spring semester applicants. There are no “make-up” dates and anyone wishing to reschedule must do so at least one day prior to the closing date. Scoring is final & students are only permitted to test once every 6 months.
Study guides are available for the PAX exam only from Jones and Bartlett. In order to access the study guide, go to the Registration Store "Programs" list, click the "Pre-Admission Exam (PAX) - (Read More | Register)" link. This page will display a section called "Jones and Bartlett Review Guides" which contains the study guide links.
