The Environmental

monthly (from October 2004 to May 2005) to plan and organize the symposium.
The event was held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY with the theme
Long
Island Air Quality—To Breathe or Not To Breathe?

By all standards the event was
successful. Speakers were excellent and comments by attendees were
universally positive. Approximately 70 people attended the environmental
conference. Unlike most LIACS events, there was a charge for attendance
at the Sterrett Symposium, twenty-five dollars for ACS members and thirty-five
dollars for non-members, helping to defray hospitality costs. In
addition, an allocation from the New York Section helped to cover the mailing
costs for this event.
