Suggested Sequence for Math Majors
The following program provides an appropriate background for students planning advanced study in mathematics. It is suggested as a sample only, and the student may make other choices in courses and sequence. Students planning to major in mathematics are advised to consult with the Department and their academic advisers as soon as possible after admission for guidance in planning a program.
A minimum of 60 credits is required for the A.S. degree.

The Calculus Physics sequence (PH 411, 412, 413) is recommended for mathematics majors. Students may also take courses in Biology, Chemistry or Geology, or 300 level Physics courses.
†Students transferring to senior colleges or professional schools which require a foreign language are advised to complete that requirement as part of the Liberal Arts and Sciences core of the Associate in Science (A.S) program.
Recommended Mathematics courses include Introduction to Discrete Mathematics (MA 471), Linear Algebra (MA 461), Differential Equations (MA 451), Computers and Programming (CS 201), and Introduction to Computer Science (CS 203).
