The Student Government Merit Scholarship is for a student who is an active leader on campus with a Grade Point Average of 3.0.

City University of New York - University Student Senate

- USS Merit Scholarship Awards
The Academic Scholarship Fund was established on June 4, 1995 by the University Student Senate of The City University of New York, Comprised of student Leaders from each CUNY Campus. The scholarship fund consists of three yearly $1,000 awards per campus and will recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship and enthusiasm under extraordinary circumstances.
- The Donald and Mary Ellen Passantino Scholarship Award
The University Student Senate of The City University of New York established the Donald and Mary Ellen Passantino Scholarship Fund in 2003. The fund consists of four yearly $500 awards per campus and will recognize international and disabled students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship and enthusiasm under extraordinary circumstances. International students will be required to have F1, J1, Q1 or M1 visas to be eligible.

The prestigious scholarships described here provide monetary awards and other types of assistance intended to support the graduate and undergraduate education of outstanding students. What these scholarships have in common is that they are recognized as among the most prestigious available and as such can have a dramatic, life-changing impact on the lives of the students who receive them.

The CUNY International Student Essay Competition (CISEC)
The Competition is the first of its kind for international students enrolled at CUNY. Students should write about their experience as a CUNY international student. In the essay, students should identify three people (one faculty member, one academic or student services administrator, and one mentor) who have been instrumental in their lives while pursuing their academic goals at CUNY.
