Study Abroad Winter/Summer 2020

As a CUNY student, how do I get started?

  1. Select a program from the Study Abroad page. Alternatively you can search programs by country.

  2. Select a CUNY program and obtain program information and syllabus for desired course abroad directly from sponsor CUNY school.

  3. Obtain an unofficial transcript and degree audit via CUNYfirst.

  4. Make an appointment to see International student Life Manager Lampeto (Bette) Efthymiou in L-431. Bring a copy of your unofficial transcript, degree audit, program name and syllabus for each course.

  5. Must obtain a paper "Permit for Matriculated Students to Attend Another Institution." This form is available at the Registrar's office (A-104) or the Study Abroad office (L-431). Bring the syllabus and course title of the selected CUNY program to the appropriate QCC department chair to verify if course is transferable to QCC. If approved, the QCC department chair needs to complete and sign the "Permit for Matriculated Students to Attend Another Institution."

  6. Submit an ePermit electronically via CUNYportal after receiving departmental approval. Note ePermit is the permission to take a course at another CUNY college. Please contact Kamla Bhagwandas at the Registrar's Office (A-104) with any questions regarding ePermit.

  7. Contact Doreen Fox-Herron at the Registrar's office (A-119) to confirm that the approved course can be applied toward your degree audit for non-CUNY study abroad programs.

  8. Submit the program application to each CUNY school directly based on the program requirements and deadlines posted on the school's individual website.

  9. Apply for your passport if you do not have one already.
