Step-by-Step Guide for International Students
ONCE YOU ARE ACCPETED INTO QUEENSBOROUGH:
Overseas students who do not have an I-20:
Submit the following documentation:
_________ Queensborough acceptance letter
_________ Application for Form I-20
Sponsor Financial Documentation
________ Bank statement showing sponsor's name, account activity for last three months showing regular deposits, and current balance of at least $32,988 dated within 3 months of program start date; certificates of deposit (CDs) are acceptable.
_________ Current paystub AND paystubs for last three months. If sponsor is self-employed, we require his/her certificate of ownership and proof of company profits and losses.
_________ Most recent tax return
If self-sponsored, student must provide a bank statement in their name with a current available balance of at least $98,964 to cover the estimated cost of their expenses for the duration of the I-20 (three years).
_________ Once I-20 is approved, student must arrange a pick up of I-20, pay the I-901 SEVIS fee, and then apply for an F-1 visa at the U.S. Consulate in their home country. For more information on the visa interview process, click here.
N.B. Students who plan to pay their I-901 via Western Union MUST complete the I-901 online and receive a unique coupon number, a requirement to submit payment via Western Union.
Student who have a current and valid I-20:
In addition to the documentation listed above, submit:
________ Transfer Enrollment Status Form completed by the former school DSO
________ All previous I-20 (copy)
________ Visa (copy)
________ I-94 (copy)
________ ID page of passport (copy)
UPON ENTERING THE U.S.
Print out your I-94 form and submit to our office (www.cbp.gov/I94)
AFTER ARRIVING IN THE U.S.
_________ Take CUNY Assessment Test (Contact our office to schedule a test date; click here for more information on testing)
_________ Submit immunization records to Health Services
_________ After recieving placement test results, schedule academic advisement and course registration appointment with Jeff Ballerini, Academic Adviser (firstname.lastname@example.org)
