Welcome to Queensborough Community College's International Student Affairs and Center for Immigration


The QCC International Student Affairs Office & Center for Immigration (Library, Room 431) is a dual office for the purposes of providing international students with services and assistance in adjusting to a new environment in the US and at QCC in particular. The new Center for Immigration was established to serve the immigration needs of the QCC community and the community at-large at no charge for this needed service.
The Center for Immigration at Queensborough Community College offers free legal advice regarding immigration issues.

The Center does not represent anyone, but will educate individuals about US Immigration laws and their rights as immigrants. If representation appears to be necessary, the Center staff will refer individuals to the appropriate resources.
The staff of the QCC Center for Immigration includes an experienced immigration lawyer, a paralegal and various immigration consultants who provide assistance with immigration issues.

The Office of International Student Affairs: assists international students with transition from their home countries to the United States. Additionally, the office helps students to obtain and maintain their immigration status and provides academic counseling.
To apply for an I-20 from Queensborough Community College all newly admitted International students must prove financial ability to support themselves or have a sponsors notarized affidavit of support stating they will support the student for their duration of studies.
All International Students who entered the country with an F-1 Visa or who changed their immigration status to F-1 while in the United States are required to report to the International Student Affairs Office every semester for status verification.
Additionally:

All F-1 students who transfer to Queensborough Community College must apply for a QCC I-20 within 15 days of registering for their courses. |

In order to maintain the immigration status, F-1 students must register for a full course of study every semester. |
· |
Students who plan to leave the United States for a visit abroad or who wish to transfer to another college or university must consult with the International Student Advisor (Library Room 431). |
