The following sample program provides an appropriate background for students planning to major in health education. The program is meant to serve as a guide only, and my be varied by students according to their individual goals and in consultation with their academic advisers.
Semester 1
Art or Dance or Music or Theater: 3 credits
Critical Issues in Health Education (HE-102): 2 credits
English Composition I (EN-101): 3 credits
Foreign Language: 3-4 credits
Fundamentals of Speech (SP-211): 3 credits
Semester 2
Addictions and Dependencies (HE-104) or
First Aid and Safety Education (HE-106): 3 credits
Principles of Biology (BI-140): 4 credits
English Composition II (EN-102): 3 credits
Foreign Language: 3-4 credits
Physical Education or Dance: 1 credit
Semester 3
English (EN-200, 300, or 400 series): 3 credits
Mathematics: 3 credits
History (HI-110, 111, or 112): 3 credits
Nutrition and Health (HE-103) or Human Sexuality (HE-105): 3 credits
Physical Education or Dance: 1 credit
Social Science (SS-110, 310, or 510): 3 credits
Semester 4
Chemistry of Environmental Pollution (CH-110): 3 credits
Liberal Arts electives: 3-5 credits
History (HI-100 series): 3 credits
Mental Health (HE-107): 3 credits
Social Science (SS-100, 300, or 500 series): 3 credits
