Dr. Anne-Marie Bourbon introduced Dr. Olga Karman. Read her introduction below
Ladies and Gentlemen, Colleagues,
It is a great pleasure for me to introduce President Eduardo Marti at this event. We should also all be thankful to have Dr. Olga Karman here at QCC as our guest speaker.
As some of you know President Marti is from Cuba. He left Havana and came to this country as a political refugee when he was 17 years old. Dr. Karman left Cuba for the same reasons, so as you can see, they have a lot in common and can share many memories and experiences. What is a real coincidence is that both left Havana in the same year and in the same month to start a new life in the USA. To go even further, both of them have contributed greatly to our society and to their country of adoption through academic endeavors.
You will hear more about Dr. Karman’s contribution from Dr. Marti and of course listening to her afterwards.
After her address and book reading, there will be a discussion and I do hope that many of you, especially you who are students, will ask questions on one of the themes suggested in the flyer, or on any topic you might want to raise pertaining to our event. Many of us are immigrants to this country and can identify with the problems, difficulties, and challenges which Dr. Karman and President Marti have encountered. So do not hesitate to have your voice heard.
Now it is my pleasure to call on President Marti to introduce Dr. Olga Karman.
