Foreign Languages and Literatures
Language Laboratory
In the summer of 2001 we installed a state-of-the-art audiovisual and multi-media language laboratory. The new lab gives you access to a vast amount of news, events, information and practice through audiotapes, software, CD-ROMs, and links to the Internet.
Technology is meant to supplement and enhance classroom instruction. It promotes a communicative, collaborative, and student-centered learning environment. It will improve your proficiency and communication abilities in the language you are learning. It will also increase your interest and motivation in the study of a foreign language. Through the Internet you will discover a whole world of information at your disposal to broaden your horizon and enrich your knowledge of other cultures.
During the first week of the term you will register in the language laboratory, as supplementary work in the Language Laboratory is required in all elementary language courses. Students in these courses are expected to attend the language laboratory for one hour weekly. In more advanced courses, such work may be required at the discretion of the instructor. In some instances you will use the lab on your own (orientation will be provided), and in other instances you will go to the lab with your class under the guidance of your instructor.
The lab is open every day (except Sunday) from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, and on Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. It is located in Rooms H240 and H241.
