[Dr.Villanueva-Collado holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from SUNY
Binghamton and is currently Professor of English at Hostos Community
College, CUNY. He has done extensive research on Spanish American modernist
prose, and the constitution of the male subject in Latin American narratives.
He has over thirty articles appearing in journals such as Revista
Iberoamericana, Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, Confluencia, Inti, Caribbean
Studies, Discurso Literario, Explicación de textos literarios, Chasqui and
RLN among others. In addition, Dr. Villanueva Collado is a widely
published poet and writer. His nine poetry collections include Pato salvaje
(1990), Entre la inocencia y la manzana (1996), and La voz de su dueño
(1998). His story "The Day We Went to See the Snow" most recently appeared in
Noche Buena: Hispanic American Christmas Stories (Oxford 2000); and Exégesis
(UPR Humacao), has just published his essay "Trece formas de hacerse poeta"
plus poems from his most recent work-in-progress, "Pan errante".]
