If you are an ESL student enrolled in college courses and you need to further increase your knowledge of academic English because you are not yet ready for Freshman Composition…

…offers the following services for *all* Queensborough students who do not speak English as their first language:
  • In person tutoring in reading, writing, grammar, mechanics, and CUNY test preparation
  • Access to a website especially designed to address various language-related difficulties that students encounter in their academic work

  • All QCC students must take the Speech Placement Test and satisfy any remedial speech requirements before finishing their 24th credit.
  • Students who have difficulty with spoken English may be placed in SP-005 and/or SP-006 on the basis of the Speech Placement Test.

International Student Affairs and Center for Immigration Office

The Office of International Student Affairs (ISA) assists international students (F-1 Visa or F-1 status) with a variety of immigration, academic and counseling support services.

  • Reviewing all the immigration and financial documents for students and issues the U.S. Federal form I-20
  • Processing change of status
  • Academic advisement and registration
  • Off and on campus work authorization
  • Immigration and social integration workshops
  • Peer mentoring and new student orientation

The Center for Immigration (CI) offers professional counseling assistance to students with immigration concerns and difficulties. The Center for Immigration was established to serve the immigration needs of the Q.C.C. community and the Queens community at no charge for this needed service.
