PRIMARY PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION
Stan has been a member of the City University and Queensborough Community College for thirty-two years. He has served as a counselor, Director of Counseling and from 1991-1992 was Acting Dean of Students.
He has worked with students from all cultural backgrounds and is particularly interested in working with Hispanic and Muslim students. These students have many concerns in common including acculturation issues and being victims of discrimination.
COUNSELING FOCUS
Stan has been a psychologist for forty years. He has helped counsel and assess students who have been in crisis and who may be depressed, very anxious, victims of sexual abuse or domestic violence. If students need to be referred to other practitioners or agencies he can help.
PUBLICATIONS
Over the past four decades he has presented and published over twenty-five professional papers. His articles have addressed the theme of dehumanization and its effect on different groups. These groups have been: the second generation of Holocaust survivors, African-American families; Vietnam era veterans; Puerto Rican college students and, most recently, Muslim students.
PERSONAL INTERESTS
Stan is a physical education nut. He has run five New York City Marathons (1979-1983) and now bikes where he used to run. He plays tennis and may be found in the QCC Fitness Center when he has a chance. He also enjoys opera and ballet. He lives in Greenwich Village and loves taking long walks in Soho and the West Village.
