Meet Your Counselors

Yvette Gonzalez, LMSW

Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts with a major in Psychology from Saint Mary’s College of California, Masters Degree in Social Work from Fordham University, and currently enrolled in post-graduate training in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, Inc.

Professional Experience: 9+ years of experience in mental health settings working with children, adolescents and adults from a wide range of cultural, religious backgrounds. QCC part-time Adjunct in the Counseling Center since August ’05.

Counseling Focus/Approach: There is an attempt to explore with students barriers to their personal and academic pursuits. Emphasis is placed on the student’s strengths and the use of available resources in their lives as well as on the student’s individual responsibility in managing their life stressors.

Interests: Spending time with family and friends, antiquing
