Easy Guide To Registration
When is advisement? Who advises me? How do I make a schedule? How do I register? These are just some of the questions students ask during the registration period. To answer the above questions, and make the process less confusing, students can follow the steps listed below. Click on the highlighted segments for more helpful links or to find step by step directions!
1) Get advised! Students who have completed 25 or more credits and have a 2.75 GPA or higher are exempt from advisement. All other degree (matriculated) students must be advised before they can register. If you are unsure where to get advised, please visit the Guide to Advisement and Registration.
2) Make your schedule based on your advisement and/or the classes you need in your curriculum. You can make your schedule by visiting the Schedule of Classes via the QCC website or the Schedule of Classes through the CUNY Portal. When making your schedule, please keep the following in mind:
- You may want to schedule breaks into your days so you can study, do homework, or have time to get involved in campus events.
- If you are not a morning person, or have a far commute, you may not want to schedule early morning classes.
- Be aware of special sections such as ASAP, LC, PNET, LATE and FNET. Make sure you know what they stand for!
- When you see information highlighted in gray on the Schedule of Classes (i.e.: Writing Intensive Section, Learning Community, LATE, On-line Section), that information pertains only to the (1) class directly above it.
- All students who began QCC as of Fall 2005 must complete (2) writing intensive classes! Have you taken any yet? If not, you may want to schedule one this semester.

Remember: In order to access the schedule of classes and register via the CUNY portal, you must first set up your CUNY Portal Account.
4) Pay your bill. If you are unsure when your bill is due, please follow the bill payment schedule. Failure to make full payment per this schedule may result in a non-payment service fee and in the cancellation of your courses
