|Overview:||Recreation leaders organize and manage recreational programs for special groups such as community residents, resort hotel or cruise ship, summer camps and senior citizen residents in a retirement community. Recreational activities include dance, nature excursions, sports, arts and crafts, etc.|
|Duties:||They evaluate the recreational preferences and needs of community residents and special groups ranging from children in camps to adults in resort hotels, cruiseships and retirement settlements.
They organize and schedule the recreational activities to be compatible with other daily routines. Arrange for purchase of equipment and facilities. Organize teams in competitive games.
They teach participants the skills, rules and procedures needed by demonstration. They motivate the participants by positive reinforcement through recognition and awards.
They interact with individual participants in order to establish rapport & gather feedback about program effectiveness. Assess programs in terms of participant involvement and opinion surveys.
|Degree(s):||A.A./B.A. QCC/QC Dual/Joint Liberal Arts & Sciences and Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)

|Education Level:||The typical training required for this career is generally a High School Degree or GED Certificate.|
|Additional Training/Education:||Most full time professional positions require a college degree with a major in park management, recreation and physical fitness. Many employers, especially in the private sector, will accept applicants with an associate or bachelor's degree in liberal arts studies.|
