Airline Flight Reservations Administrator
|Overview:||Flight reservation administrators coordinate passenger reservations for airlines. They evaluate the effectiveness of computer-based reservation systems, and training needed for ticket agents. They make statistical comparisons of prices & profitability of competitors and set airfares.|
|Duties:||They design new systems and methods to improve efficiency of passenger airline reservations. Analyze reports describing airplane passenger loads, miles flown & reasons for empty seats.
Analyze the effects of airline ticket prices on passenger volume and airline profits and determine ticket prices and discounts for special events or passenger groups.
They evaluate ticket agents' performance in terms of number of passengers processed and passenger satisfaction. They determine what the training needs are for the ticket agents.
They conduct studies of passenger satisfaction and reasons for dissatisfaction and decide upon changes to be made to improve passenger satisfaction.

|Education Level:||Training for this occupation generally requires an Associate Degree from a 2 year or community college.|
|Additional Training/Education:||A bachelor's or a master's degree in business management, information systems and logistics provide a good preparation for a career in airline and airport administration. Courses in operations management, statistics and computer applications are important. Some colleges and universities offer specialized training for careers in aviation. FAA certification is required for duties associated with management and scheduling of aircraft.|
