|Overview:||Estimators evaluate the proposals and bids by contractors who supply workers and materials or machinery, equipment or services. They examine the contractor's past reputation, prices, schedules, etc. to select a contractor and negotiate the contract specifications.|
|Duties:||They compare proposals and cost estimates submitted by vendors and suppliers to determine which one best meets the organization's requirements.
They confer with organization management and with the vendors about any ambiguous aspects of the proposals.
They select the vendor based on reputation and ability to meet the quality and schedules needed by the organization.
They oversee the vendor's progress to assure the performance and the payments conform to the original terms and conditions.
