|Overview:||Industrial-organizational psychologists conduct studies to assess organization's human resource management programs, management practices and design of jobs. They design programs to enhance employee motivation, productivity and quality of work. They conduct studies to improve training and development of employees.|
|Duties:||They design and conduct employee opinion surveys to measure employees' perceptions of the quality of their jobs, management leadership styles, performance appraisal and reward systems.
They conduct experiments to identify which work methods, management practices and team-building techniques result in the optimum productivity and quality of work.
They design employee job skills training and career development planning programs to assure organizations can promote from within. Design methods to evaluate potential managers.
They recommend to executives how organizational structure, goal setting methods and decision making processes should be designed to enable the company to adapt to changing business conditions.

|Job Outlook:||Employment of Industrial-Organizational Psychologists is expected to grow as fast as average through 2018. Industrial-organizational psychologists will help companies deal with issues such as workplace diversity and antidiscrimination policies and improve worker productivity and retention.|
|Salary Range (National Average):||$38,000 ro $50,000|
|Education Level:||Candidates for this occupation generally have completed their Bachelor’s Degree and have continued their education either 1 or 2 years longer.|
|Additional Training/Education:||A master's or a doctorate's degree is generally required for employment as an industrial/organizational psychologist. To provide services as a practicing psychologist, licensing is required in most states.|
Understanding acquiring positions in this field may be enhanced through continuing academic study (i.e. earning a baccalaureate or a master's degree) and/or work experience in the field, Queensborough Community College has established transfer agreements with other institutions for students who wish to further pursue their educational goals.
