CHECKLIST to help you do a credited internship

  • Start planning to do an internship the semester before you want to begin the internship

  • Make an appointment with the Internship Coordinator in the Office of Career Services (718) 631-6297. 
  • Meet with the Faculty Coordinator of the Cooperative Education Class in the department of your major and register for the Cooperative Education class during registration the semester before you want to begin the internship. Access a list of coordinators

  • Read the Online Internship Manual on the QCC Career Services site

  • Create a strong resume. Visit SkillsFirst for resume resources.

  • Research:

    • Queensborough Email notices sent to you
    • Search our website
    • Your own research
    • If you know someone in a business, which you’re interested in doing an internship in, ask them if you can do an internship with them. (Print out opportunities to keep track of what you are applying for.)
  • Apply for the internship according to the instructions in the Internship listing

  • Keep a log or notes of where you are in the process of applying for each internship opportunity, so that you know what to do next with whom you’ve spoken and when
