Create your resume using SkillsFirst. Email the Office of Career Services to join a resume review session.

Research internship opportunities

Begin this process no later than the semester before you want to do the internship

Check your email; visit Find An Internship; do your own research on the internet; consult with your academic department; or the Office of Career Services' Internship Coordinator.

Practice your interview skills

The semester before the one you want to do the internship

Make an appointment with the Office of Career Services to set up a mock interview.

Discuss your internship intentions with the on-campus Internship Coordinator/Placement Adviser in the Career Services Office or your Freshman or Academic Adviser

During class registration time the semester before you want to do the internship

Faculty Cooperative Education Class Coordinators, Academic Adviser, The Internship Coordinator in the Office of Career Services

Meet with the Faculty Cooperative Education Coordinator to arrange for academic credit.

During class registration time the semester before you want to do the internship.Obtain a "Change of Schedule" form, have the Chairperson sign it and return it to the Office of the Registrar.

Register for the Cooperative Education class and get approval of your internship.

Apply for prospective internships; follow necessary procedures, including applications and interviews, etc.; make decision.

As early as possible the semester before you want to do the internship

Visit Handshake. Follow the “How to Apply,” directions in the individual internship listings. If you need assistance see the Internship Coordinator in the Office of Career Services

Finalize arrangements for the internship; set hours and understand the requirements of both the Cooperative Education Coordinator and the Internship Site Supervisor.

No later than the week before the start of the internship
