Description: This position will assist in planning the functional layout of subway stations, including the size and location of stairs, mezzanines and fare control elements. Layout is based on quantitative analysis of passenger flows and projected future patterns. Workload consists of site visits and passenger counts, analysis of passenger flows, development of station design recommendations and promulgation of those recommendations at inter-departmental meetings. Other responsibilities include analyzing station operations and intermodal connections to determine where improvements can be made.

|Special Skills & Requirements||Education and Experience Principal Transportation Planner OA A bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in one or more of the following: engineering, urban studies, geography, transportation science, urban planning, economics, business, public administration, political science or related fields; and five (5) years of full-time paid experience in transportation operations or transportation planning. A master's degree in any of the fields listed for the bachelor's degree may substitute for two-years of the required experience. Senior Transportation Planner OA A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four (4) years of full-time paid experience stated in the requirements above or a master's degree in any of the fields listed for the baccalaureate degree may substitute for one year of the required experience. Transportation Planner OA Must possess education as stated above plus two (2) years of full-time paid experience in transportation operations planning or a satisfactory combination of education and experience. Associate Staff Analyst/ Staff Analyst II A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, engineering, geography, urban studies, public administration, political science or a related field and three (3) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience. Staff Analyst I A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, engineering, geography, urban studies, public administration, political science or a related field and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience. Desired Skills Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills are required. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet analysis, and data analysis is required. Experience in pedestrian planning and/or architectural design is desirable. Knowledge of the New York City subway system and NYC geography and neighborhoods is desirable.|
