The goal of CLIP is to provide intensive, full-time instruction (25 hours a week) in the English language to learners of English as a second language who are at a very low proficiency level based on their CUNY Skills Assessment Tests in reading and writing. These are students whose scores are too low for proper placement in Basic Educational Skills courses. The purpose for attending CLIP, therefore, is to bring their proficiency up to the level of Basic Skills students.
