Academic Service-Learning (ASL) projects involve class assignments that take students’ work out into the community, encouraging civic engagement.
It is in recognition of the incredible hard work and dedication of the formerly grant-funded OASL Staff that the College has committed to institutionalizing formal, operational support for ASL through regular tax levy funding. Accordingly, the operational support for ASL will be transitioning to the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL), a department to which the College is committing two additional full-time positions. This support for the HIPs—and ASL in particular—is an important step toward the long-term goal of advancing ASL at Queensborough.
It is with a sincere appreciation of all that has been accomplished and an enthusiastic optimism for the organized and effective advancement to come that we are progressing through a transitional period for ASL. As the College works through this transition period, we thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility.
