Workshop Info
The BSLC's Reading Intervention Workshops are for students who have successfully completed either BE 122 or BE 226 and received an NC or P grade and must pass the ACT Reading placement test in order to move on to EN 101 or to transfer to a four year CUNY institution.
Workshops are led by our talented tutors, but what’s unique about the workshops is that they allow for students to work together in groups. During these sessions, students share and apply what they have learned in their Basic Educational Skills Reading classes.
Workshops are free of charge to BES students, but you must register in order to attend. The BSLC offers morning, afternoon, and evening workshops, since many of our students attend other classes and/or work full or part-time. Once a student has registered for a Workshop cycle, he or she is expected to attend each of the scheduled sessions. Tutors do take attendance at each session.
If you're interested in enrolling in a BSLC workshop, take a look at the current workshop schedule and contact the Basic Skills Learning Center at (718) 281-5709 to register.
