Madeline Braisted, lifelong resident of Queens, where she presently maintains her studio. She has been creating art since she can remember. After high school she studied at The Art Students League. She served a tour of duty in the military in the 1950’s. Later entered Hofstra University, where she minored in Fine Art, while majoring in Science.
Madeline taught Ceramics and Basic Principles of Design while on faculty at York College. She reentered the military, and worked part-time as a freelance artist.
In 1992 Madeline returned to her art full time, studying with various mentors in the New York Metropolitan area.
“When I see certain places or spaces that intrigue me, I feel the need to paint them from my perspective and to share them.”
Madeline has shown at the National Arts Club, the Broome Street Gallery, NYC, Kathlyn Moses Gallery, City Island, NY, Fairfield Jr. League Annual Exhibit, Fairfield, CT,
NYC Health & Hospitals Corp, Citibank, in LIC. As well as on going exhibitions at Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts and many local art organizations.
