Dear Queensborough Alumni:
In this day and age, I think of Queensborough as a personal stimulus package for each of our students. It is a vibrant and nurturing place. Over the past 50 years, Queensborough has evolved into a community of learners and leaders doing something new every day and creating a marvelous legacy of which all alumni can be proud. This has been a beautiful and prosperous 50 years for our College and we look forward to a wonderful celebration as we begin our 50th Anniversary Year in the fall!
This has been a difficult year for many of us and our families – the financial crisis, job losses and health scares have taken a toll on peoples’ spirits. However, I am so proud to say that the alumni of Queensborough have been outstanding this year in giving back to their alma mater. The 50th Anniversary Phonathon has resulted in donations from 392 alumni who have never before given to the College and gifts from another 125 alumni who have not given to the College recently – amounting to an addition of over $24,000 for scholarships and programs for Queensborough students! This is a tremendous tribute honoring what Queensborough has given to each of us. I thank all of you.
This year, the Queensborough Community College Alumni Association (QCCAA) will give out awards at the Honors Convocation, including a stipend to the Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center intern. We participated in the 22nd Annual Partners for Progress Gala that raised over $300,000 for the College. Next year’s Partners Gala celebration will be a magnificent 50th Anniversary party – so make plans to be part of it right now! The date is Thursday, April 29, 2010. There will be so many events for next year that I ask each of you to be sure to keep your email and address up-to-date with the College so you’ll receive all the news! You can update your information at: www.qcc.cuny/edu/alumni and choose the link – Update Your Information.
To help us continue with this work on behalf of the College, I invite each of you to become part of this effort. An annual donation of $25 or more to the Queensborough Community College Fund, Inc. / Alumni Association makes you a member of the QCCAA. The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30th. You can register online at the above web site or come into the Alumni Office – Room A- 508 at the College or call for an application (718) 281-5144.
Each year becomes more exciting at Queensborough! We have world-class exhibits at the Art Gallery; lectures and exhibits at the new Kupferberg Holocaust Center, and numerous sold-out performances at our own QPAC – the Queensborough Performing Arts Center. This year’s student fundraiser, the Walk to Aspire, raised over $24,000 for scholarships, and many of our alumni contributed to this effort and showed up to walk and cheer for our students. I appeal to you to “get involved”; it’s a very rewarding place!
I look forward to your participation in our Association. But, even if you don’t join the Association, there are many ways to give back, including joining us for some of the events for the 50th Anniversary! Thank you for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,

Cheryle Levine '75
President, QCC Alumni Association
The QCC Alumni Association is an exciting, dynamic, civic-minded organization that exists to support the students and alumni of Queensborough Community College of The City University of New York.
Our Mission is: “To increase the involvement of the alumni community and support the economic growth of the College.”
The members of the QCC Alumni Association Cabinet are elected to two-year terms each June by the dues-paying members of the Association. They are the leaders of the Association and together they elect, from their members, the Executive Board of the Association to two-year terms – the President, Vice President, Secretary and the Treasurer. Therefore, anyone elected to the Executive Board, whose term is expiring the following year, their term is extended for an additional year to serve as an Officer.
The goals of the members of the Cabinet are to represent the Alumni at the College; serve the Alumni they represent; bring Alumni back to the College; and use the Association resources to help the College to continue its mission and to connect the Alumni to the students – our future Alumni.
For further information on serving in the QCC Alumni Association Cabinet, please call Fran McDonald in the Alumni Office, (718) 281-5144.
