Message from Alumni President Cheryle Levine

Dear Fellow Graduate,

Norm Bigman, a member of the College’s first graduating class in 1962 and chairperson of the College’s first-ever capital campaign, describes Queensborough as the place where he got “his wings.” These words, I believe, well describe the mission of our College.

You are part of our tradition – one of more than 45,000 graduates from Queensborough. The College continues to hold a reputation as one of the most academically challenging and demanding community colleges within the country. More than 56% of our faculty have earned their doctoral degree, as compared to less than 20% of community college faculty nationwide. (Not only are our faculty highly credentialed, but they are winners: the 2003 COMMUNITY COLLEGE PROFESSOR OF THE YEAR, selected from a nationwide pool, is the Chairperson of our Chemistry Department!)

You have every reason to be proud of your degree from Queensborough. As we move forward, you – as a graduate – become even more important to us. Regardless of when you graduated, whether last year or decades ago, things are changing at the College – and we want you to be part of our future as well as our history.

Queensborough will always be your collegiate birthplace. I invite you to enjoy our facilities and the many events, activities and programs happening on campus. Get involved and keep in touch.

I look forward to an opportunity to personally meet you.

Sincerely,

Cheryle Levine ‘75
