LSAMP Carver Bancorp Scholarship

This is a new scholarship program for outstanding City University or New York science, math, engineering and technology majors established with a gift of $145,00 from the Carver Scholarship Fund. The gift will help broaden minority opportunities in the sciences, math, engineering and technology disciplines.

LSAMP Carver Bancorp Fellowship

  • $4000 Summer Research
  • $1000 Fall 2003 Semester
  • $1000 Spring 2004 Semester
  • LSAMP Research Scholarship

Requirements

  • Research activity with a CUNY Faculty mentor
  • A public lecture at the Urban University Series Conference - Spring 2004
  • A public lecture at the campus during the Fall 2003 semester
  • A year long public service project with four/five other Carver LSAMP Scholars Eligibility
  • Write and develop a public science literacy curriculum based on research project

Eligibility

  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior status
  • Participation in the LSAMP program for at least two consecutive semesters
  • Current community college students must gain acceptance in a CUNY senior college prior to the application deadline
  • A GPA of at least 3.2

Required Application Material

  • Research proposal developed by the student and faculty mentor
  • COMPLETED NYCLSAMP Renewal Application
  • Personal Statement on Teaching, Research and Service
  • Letter of Nomination from the LSAMP Steering Committee

  • Three recommendation letters - two from faculty members
  • Federal financial award data, and declaration of other scholarship awards
